city and colour.

this january i had the priviledge of seeing city and colour at the troc in philadelphia. i had little background on this group other than that the person i was going with (stephie g.)was completely obsessed with dallas green, the brains behind this operation and alexisonfire.

i always appreciate when a musician is able to get out of the relationship box and write more substantive music. if you can write well enough draw from the relationship one has with themselves, you have tapped into the most personal of resources one has--especially in contrast to all the romance nonsense we hear every day. i mean, really, what else is there to say that avril lavigne and fall out boy haven't unjustifiably made careers out of already?

city and colour doesn't just crack open the window to the soul, but cracks the glass and rips out the screen. the ability to phrase and draw conclusions from obvious things that we are often ignorant to, or even fully aware of, is a perfected art by this group. they were truly inspiring. so, with the help of youtube, you can be inspired, too. :)
