pet peeves.

i have a few pet peeves: half games in baseball standings, andrew llyod webber, people that read over your shoulder, sneakers without socks, fake tanning until you're orange, uggz with shorts, and when people say "you have no idea" or "you don't understand" (yes, i do understand, or at least have SOME sort of idea what you're saying). generally these minor annoyances do not serve as obstacles in relationships with people around me. but my largest pet peeve often does.

i think that the ability to relate is derived from those who value perspective, balance, and change. directly correlating with this is my intolerance for people who constantly complain about situations within their control. life is full of overwhelming circumstances, and if you don't manipulate the ones that you can put your finger on, then take your hands off the steering wheel all together. life will inevitably control you instead. i've always been one for the driver's seat, and if conditions have prevented me from taking control, i've been a back seat driver who did the work to get back to my normal position. i understand that it's scary, and sometimes the passenger seat is the easiest way to fly. whatever your philosophy, live it to the fullest. commit. don't bitch. i understand the need to vent, or discuss things to work through them, but when push comes to shove comes to pull comes to yank, it's your job to fix what makes you unhappy. it is not the burden or ability of someone else. no matter how much they try to help you and love you, it takes you (and maybe some therapy) to change your fears, insecurities, and problems, nevermind acknowledge their existence. i don't have it all figured out, and i am thankful for that. why would i want to stop learning, or become that self-satisfied? that's a sure way to become ignorant and arrogant. but i do have some things figured out. the biggest lesson? do the best to control what you've got, because it isn't a whole lot. live in balance, passion, and patience. if you don't take control, well then i guess "you have no idea" what i'm talking about.
